    PHOENIX, ARIZONA — Arizona State University, with its diverse campus, interdisciplinary centers, and focus on digital media, refers to itself as the New American University. Since 2007, principal investigator James Gee has led the MacArthur-supported 21st Learning and Assessment Project, which has produced journal articles defining new approaches to assessing learning with digital media and three new projects for developing assessments for learning. Gee will collaborate with Professor Edmund Gordon to establish a 21st Century Assessment Fellowship program that will support young assessment scholars from a variety of universities to engage in new approaches to assessing learning with digital media, develop new technical skills, and collaborate on innovative assessment projects.

The MacArthur Foundation awarded Arizona State University Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College $300,000 between 2010 and 2013.
