    CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — The museum of the Art Institute is one of the premier encyclopedic visual art museums in the world. It is one of the largest and most prestigious art museums in the United States. The museum's collection has 270,000 objects; it contains works of international importance by Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Georges Seurat, Vincent van Gogh, Grant Wood, Edward Hopper, and many others. The Art Institute has 93,000 members and receives 1.4 million visitors each year. This grant will support the general operations of the Art Institute including exhibitions, visitor engagement, and educational programs.

The MacArthur Foundation awarded Art Institute of Chicago $500,000 between 2010 and 2013.
