LIMA, PERU — Instituto del Bien Común works with Peruvian indigenous communities and governments to encourage good environmental governance practices in critical watersheds. This grant will consolidate a management model in the Rio Pachitea sub-basin of the Ucayali watershed and replicate it in the Apayacu and Ampiyacu sub-basins of the Maranon watershed. A special resource governance structure composed of six districts will be applied in the Pachitea watershed. A master plan for a Regional Conservation Area, monitoring plan for tracking future changes in forest quality, map of aquatic habitats; and a fishery management plan will be prepared in the Apayacu-Ampiyacu area.
The MacArthur Foundation awarded Instituto del Bien Comun $350,000 between 2010 and 2013.
