WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Institute for Market Transformation promotes energy efficiency and green design in the building sector through technical research, educational outreach, and policy analysis. As a growing number of cities and states with major real estate markets are now crafting laws that require building owners to report on properties' energy usage, the Institute will provide practical guidance to state and local officials on specific regulatory language that would minimize negative effects on multifamily housing, including affordable rental housing, and help state, local, and federal policymakers develop energy-related regulations that reflect an understanding of the challenges and needs of multifamily housing.
The MacArthur Foundation awarded Institute for Market Transformation $50,000 between 2010 and 2013.
