    NEW YORK, NEW YORK — The Homestretch (working title) is a documentary film about homeless youth within the Chicago Public Schools system. It is an intimate look into the lives of homeless youth and their day-to-day experiences, and the adults in schools, shelters and service agencies trying to provide some structure and support for these children. The Homestretch is a film by Kirsten Kelly and Anne de Mare, producers/directors at Spargel Productions in New York, with Kartemquin Educational Films as a co-producing partner.

The MacArthur Foundation awarded Spargel Productions $200,000 between 2010 and 2013.

MacArthur Awards 13 Documentary Film Grants

A supporter of independently produced film and video for more than 30 years, MacArthur announced 13 grants totaling more than $1.6 million for documentary film projects.  More
