WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy provides businesses and government with policy research, communications, and technical assistance to advance investments in energy efficiency. Although nearly a third of American households are renters, the multifamily rental housing market is inadequately served by existing energy efficiency programs in most states. The Council will use this grant to increase utility companies and regulators awareness about the energy efficiency potential of the multifamily rental housing stock--new attention that could yield nearly $3.4 billion in annual savings to both building owners and residents, and lead to increased affordability and improved living conditions.
The MacArthur Foundation awarded American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy $600,000 between 2010 and 2013.
