GLAND, SWITZERLAND — The International Union for Conservation of Nature holds the world's largest and most authoritative database on conservation status of species. These data serve to guide conservation strategies and priorities throughout the world. This grant will use this program to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the condition of freshwater biodiversity in the Tropical Andes and provide baseline data for the subsequent monitoring of status, trends and threats to ecosystem health and to broad sharing of this information.
The MacArthur Foundation awarded International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources $500,000 between 2010 and 2013.
