LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — Blue Ventures is dedicated to tropical marine conservation, education, and sustainable development of coastal communities. For over a decade Blue Ventures has been involved in the creation of locally-managed marine areas in Madagascar. Blue Ventures will coordinate and hold an official side event to the International Union for the Conservation of Natures World Conservation Congress in Jeju, South Korea in September 2012. The workshop will bring together representatives from community-based marine conservation networks in the South Pacific, Western Indian Ocean, and the Caribbean to facilitate a meaningful exchange of ideas on best practices, lessons learned, common challenges, and new approaches to community-based/locally-managed marine conservation. The workshop will develop the foundation for a global network connecting regional LMMA networks.
